Acuvue MAX family receives screen time at AAOpt's Academy 2025
Christi Closson, OD, FAAO, details the events that the product family was featured in during this year's conference.
Christi Closson, OD, FAAO, provided an in-depth overview of Johnson & Johnson's events during the American Academy of Optometry's annual Academy meeting in Boston, Massachusetts that featured the completion of the MAX contact lens family. The MAX Multifocal for Astigmatism is particularly noteworthy as the first and only daily disposable multifocal contact lens that corrects astigmatism, representing a significant innovation in vision correction technology.
Closson highlighted the comprehensive approach Johnson & Johnson took in introducing these products, which included multiple engagement strategies during the conference. Her conference activities were multifaceted, encompassing a lunch session at the Academy where she detailed the products' development, statistics, and underlying rationale. The lunch provided a platform to explain the design and purpose of the new lens options. Additionally, the conference featured poster sessions where Johnson & Johnson colleagues presented their research, generating substantial interest among attendees.
Two specialized lunch events further enhanced the product introduction. The first lunch was moderated in part by Closson, while the second focused on presenting research from the poster sessions. These events included interactive Q&A sessions, allowing for in-depth discussions about the products' design and capabilities. The Q&A sessions proved particularly valuable, as questions about lens design indicated a high level of professional curiosity.
Doctors expressed keen interest in understanding the technical nuances of the new contact lens options. The most significant outcome was the overwhelmingly positive feedback received from medical professionals. Doctors consistently reported that the MAX products performed exceptionally well, meeting both visual correction and comfort requirements. Closson emphasized that the ultimate measure of success is patient satisfaction, and the feedback suggested they had achieved this goal.
From the booth interactions, poster sessions, and lunch events, the reception was uniformly positive, according to Closson. The new lens options not only demonstrated technical innovation but also provided practical solutions for patients with complex vision correction needs. The conference provided the opportunity to showcase Johnson & Johnson's commitment to advancing contact lens technology and improving patient care through innovative design and comprehensive research, Closson added.
