Kansas City, MO-Understanding the features of the different types of pediatric nystagmus is the basis for determining the etiology of the problem and counseling parents about the need for further evaluation, possible treatments, and their child's prognosis, according to Timothy Hug, OD.

"Approaching the evaluation of a child with nystagmus using a systematic thought process will help facilitate what can otherwise be a difficult diagnostic challenge," said Dr. Hug, assistant professor at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, Kansas City, MO.
