WaveDȳn integrates with Bausch + Lomb and WAVE for scleral lens fitting

The WaveDȳn Vision Analyzer measures the eye's full optical error, and the WaveDȳn Advantage service uses those measurements to design a wavefront-guided scleral lens correcting both low- and higher-order aberrations.

WaveFront Dynamics announced 2 new integrations with Bausch + Lomb and WAVE Eye Care, expanding scleral lens options available to eye care professionals using the WaveDȳn Vision Analyzer (WaveFront Dynamics) and WaveDȳn Advantage optic design service. According to a new announcement, the collaborations give clinicians access to Bausch + Lomb's Zenlens CHROMA HOA lenses and additional WAVE ScleraLens designs within a single diagnostic ecosystem.1

“Today’s clinicians want both precision and flexibility,” said Dan Neal, PhD, founder and CEO of WaveFront Dynamics, in the news release.1 “These collaborations represent an important step forward in empowering eye care professionals with advanced wavefront analysis while preserving their ability to choose the scleral lens technology they believe is best for each patient. By expanding the ecosystem around our WaveDȳn Vision Analyzer, we are helping practices deliver more customized care for patients with complex cornea cases and higher-order aberrations.”

The integrations broaden fitting flexibility for optometrists managing complex corneal cases and patients with higher-order aberrations. For ODs who fit scleral lenses, the expanded lens compatibility means wavefront-guided diagnostic data can now inform selection across more premium lens platforms. The stated aim is to let clinicians choose the scleral lens technology best suited to each patient while preserving advanced wavefront analysis in the workflow.

The WaveDȳn Vision Analyzer measures the eye's full optical error, and the WaveDȳn Advantage service uses those measurements to design a wavefront-guided scleral lens correcting both low- and higher-order aberrations. Traditional scleral lenses correct only low-order aberrations, which leaves many patients with residual glare, halos, and blur. By capturing the complete wavefront error, the platform supports a more data-driven fitting process and generates the optical information needed to design HOA-correcting lenses. The 2 new integrations connect this diagnostic output to Bausch + Lomb's Zenlens CHROMA HOA and to WAVE's ScleraLens line, giving practices additional pathways for customization. WAVE previously worked with WaveFront Dynamics HOA-correction technology through its EyePrint Prosthetics offering, and the expanded partnership extends that capability to the broader WAVE ScleraLens portfolio.

"The WaveDȳn Vision Analyzer and WaveDȳn Advantage platform broaden eye care professionals' ability to utilize our Zenlens CHROMA HOA lenses," said Yang Yang, president of Global Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb, in the release.1 "The diagnostic information these technologies provide is important to the fitting process and offers more options for designing HOA-correcting scleral lenses for patients."

How the collaborations extend value across OD and MD comanagement

The collaborations are positioned to benefit referring optometrists alongside the surgeons they work with, giving both access to shared planning tools when managing patients who require scleral lenses. By connecting advanced diagnostics with customizable lens technologies, the integrations are expected to improve communication and expand access to personalized solutions across referral relationships. For comanaging ODs, a common diagnostic ecosystem may streamline handoffs and align lens selection decisions between providers.

"As a clinician focused on complex corneal cases, the diagnostic depth of the WaveDȳn Vision Analyzer has genuinely changed how I approach scleral lens selection," said Nathan Schramm, OD, Insight Vision Costa Mesa, in the release.1 “With expanded lens options now available through these collaborations, I have everything I need in one ecosystem to deliver truly personalized care for my patients who require scleral lenses.”

No new safety signals were reported in the announcement, as the integrations concern diagnostic and lens-design compatibility rather than a new device or therapeutic agent. The stated clinical value centers on correcting residual higher-order aberrations, a limitation of conventional scleral correction, which the wavefront-guided approach is designed to address. Practices adopting the workflow gain expanded lens optionality without adopting a new measurement instrument for each platform.1

"Our EyePrint Prosthetics customers have seen firsthand what Wavefront Dynamics HOA-correction technology can do for their patients, and we are thrilled to bring that same capability to our WAVE ScleraLens designs. Expanding this partnership is a natural next step in our ongoing commitment to making the best custom specialty contact lens options available to every practice and every patient we serve," said Brian Purdy, vice president of Sales & Commercial Development at WAVE Eye Care, in the release.1

For ODs who fit specialty contact lenses, the integrations expand the range of premium HOA-correcting scleral options accessible through wavefront-guided diagnostics without changing the underlying measurement workflow. Availability of the integrated lens options follows the terms set by each manufacturer.
