Allergan and AAO offer student travel fellowships to attend AAO meeting

Article

The American Academy of Optometry has received a grant from Allergan to award travel fellowships for students to attend Academy 2012 Phoenix in October.

Thanks to a generous grant donation from Allergan, the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) will be awarding up to 30 optometry residents fellowships that will send them to the AAO meeting this October. Each travel fellowship is $750.

Graduating students interested in receiving this award should turn in the application along with their current Curriculum Vitae and the required 300 to 500 word essay on dry eyes and allergies. The Disease Resident Travel Fellowship checks will be awarded at a breakfast sponsored by Allergen during Academy 2012 Phoenix on Saturday, October 27, 2012. The application notes that priority for the Travel Fellowship will be for applicants who have a paper or poster selected by the Residents Day Committee for Academy 2012 Phoenix.

The application deadline is August 20, 2012. More information and the application itself is available here.
