Alternative for discontinued lenses

Carlsbad, CA-The Duette Hybrid contact lens (SynergEyes Inc.) offers an alternative to the CIBA VISION brand lenses that were discontinued this past summer.

Duette Hybrid, which launched nationwide in January, is a second-generation hybrid contact lens indicated for a broad range of patients. The Duette Hybrid combines a rigid gas permeable center to correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism with a soft lens skirt for comfort. The high-modulus MaxVu RGP incorporates a DK of 130 and class II UV blocker, while the high-DK, low-modulus silicone hydrogel skirt has a DK of 84 and is 32% water. A patent-pending surface treatment, called HealthyEyes, increases wettability and resists protein deposits to maximize comfort.

The design of the Duette eliminates soft toric lens rotation issues, like blur, inconsistent vision, and less-than-optimal night vision. It is rotationally symmetric and provides corneal astigmatism correction without inconsistent axis shift by using an optimized lacrimal layer to decrease aberrations and enhance optical performance.

Duette is available in sphere powers of +6 to -15 D and is approved to correct up to 6 D of corneal astigmatism. It is offered in five base curves and three skirt curve options.

“Duette is a good alternative for patients who need re-fit from the discontinued CIBA VISION brands,” said Paul Kusy, OD, FAAO, in a prepared statement on behalf of SynergEyes. “The fitting approach is streamlined and straightforward for the practice and the lens is offered in a broad range of parameters to deliver excellent vision and comfort to almost all patients in a practice.”
