AOA 2026: What the recent Oasys parameter expansion means for the Acuvue lens family

At the 129th Annual AOA Congress, Johnson & Johnson announced an expanded parameter range for ACUVUE OASYS 1-Day for Astigmatism (Johnson & Johnson), extending cylinder powers up to -2.75D and bringing the total available combinations to 3350, according to a company news release.¹ The expanded portfolio is expected to become available in the US and Canada this summer.

The update gives ACUVUE OASYS 1-Day for Astigmatism the largest SKU parameter count among key daily disposable toric brands.¹ For ODs managing higher-cylinder patients who previously fell outside daily disposable parameters, the expansion directly widens the fitting pool without requiring a modality compromise.

ACUVUE OASYS 1-Day for Astigmatism retains BLINK STABILIZED Design across the expanded range, intended to minimize rotational instability and maintain clear vision through head and eye movements.¹ Mark Wells, OD, of Cheyenne Vision Clinic in Cheyenne, Wyoming, noted the significance of blink-stabilized technology for toric wearers. "I really don't see why we'd ever want to put a patient in a lens without blink stabilized design," Wells told Optometry Times, citing UV protection and consistent comfort as additional differentiators across the ACUVUE family.

The cylinder expansion follows Johnson & Johnson's earlier 2026 update to ACUVUE VITA for Astigmatism, which also extended coverage to -2.75D in 10-degree axis increments, enabling practitioners to fit nearly 96% of astigmatic patients in a monthly modality.¹ Together, the OASYS 1-Day and VITA expansions give ODs a continuous toric option across daily, 2-week, and monthly modalities for higher-cylinder patients.
