The American Optometric Association (AOA)’s member-benefit and for-profit subsidiary AOAExcel has announced its financial investment in Barti Software, a San Francisco-based eye care electronic health records (EHR) company.1 AOAExcel has also endorsed the software company, making Barti the first endorsed eye care EHR by AOAExcel, according to a news release.

“For the first time, AOAExcel is investing in our profession’s opportunity to thrive and succeed with the latest state-of-the-art EHR,” said Sam Pierce, OD, AOA past president and chairman of the board for AOAExcel. “An office’s EHR is a vital part of the heartbeat of the practice and is a major component of how smooth the office runs on a daily basis. We’re excited to be financially invested in Barti for our profession and for our members who now have the opportunity to upgrade their practice to the cutting-edge of the profession with this powerful new technology.”

Barti’s EHR system sports several features, with a number of those utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). The system allows eye care providers to chart real-time with an AI scribe and schedule appointments over the phone with the AI Office Copilot. Barti Software also comes with a VoIP phone system, which allows eye care providers to manage calls through a single system. Patients can also book appointments online 24/7 with the system. Quicker reimbursement times are possible through the system’s revenue cycle management offerings, allowing eye care providers to submit and track claims through said system.1

“An EHR should do more than just store data – it should be the command center for the whole business,” said Colton Calandrella, cofounder and CEO of Barti Software. “Barti’s AI gives superpowers to providers so they can focus on treating patients instead of tedious documentation. We’re thrilled about this partnership and proud to be the first EHR company AOAExcel has chosen to invest in, as Barti stands out as a partner uniquely equipped to address a pressing challenge for all eye care providers.”

Barti Software is available to all eye care providers, with live demos and more information available on its website. AOA members can also receive a $1500 Visa gift card after signing up with Barti and being live on the platform for 3 months.1
