Tsawwaswen, British Columbia, Optometrist Joan Hansen, OD, shares her take from “Retina Mysteries Revealed” at the 90th annual SECO International meeting in Atlanta:

Leo Semes, OD, FAAO, discussed case presentations comparing retinal photographs with OCT scans. He talked about macular holes (both full thickness and partial), glaucoma, hypertension, and adult onset Best vitelliform.

Dr. Semes’s explanations were concise and well laid out. I learned a lot. This lecture was important because I learned how to correlate a retinal photo and an OCT.

My pearl of the lecture: Those who see and can explain their floaters are of higher intelligence.
