“Optometrist to the Stars” Morton Greenspoon, OD, FAAO, delivered an engaging presentation at Optometry’s Meeting, in which he described his career as an ocular special effects expert in the entertainment industry. A third generation optometrist in Beverly Hills, CA, he is an innovator in cosmetic specialty soft, rigid, and scleral lenses. Dr. Greenspoon has been involved with numerous movies, designing and fitting theatrical contact lenses, which have become an integral part of the special effects industry. Not only has Dr. Greenspoon worked with many iconic stars including Elvis Presley, Audrey Hepburn, and Frank Sinatra, but his craft and expertise have also been recognized with nominations for Oscar and Emmy awards. It is important to optometry and to optometry’s history to salute and take pride in Dr. Greenspoon’s contribution to “movie magic.”ODT
