Fremont, CA-Optovue announced the launch of The Optometric Medical Model Initiative (TOMMI), an optometric-focused educational program intended to help physicians successfully integrate the medical model into their practice.

The TOMMI Program is designed to facilitate increased physician awareness and education of the various aspects of the medical model through live workshops and symposia as well as recorded webinars, articles and presentations that are housed within the TOMMI Web Portal. 

Topics found on the Web portal include:

• Posterior eye diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma.

• Anterior segment, from the use of Pachymetry maps, angle measurements to the fitting of specialty contact lenses.

• Billing and coding.

• Pearls for the implementation of new technology into the primary eyecare practice
