Orasis Pharmaceuticals, BlinkRx partnership offers new dispensing options for Qlosi

Through at home delivery, and in-office dispense in permitted states, Orasis Pharmaceuticals and BlinkRx aim to improve accessibility of Qlosi eye drops for presbyopia treatment.

Orasis Pharmaceuticals and BlinkRx recently unveiled 2 new initiatives to improve access to pilocarpine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution (Qlosi) 0.4%, a novel corrective eye drop used to treat presbyopia. First Fill Free, which provides a no-cost first-fill for patients, and in-office dispensing available, both available through BlinkRX, both work to “help patients start and stay on Qlosi,” according to a news release.1

"Our goal has always been to help patients see clearly up close without reaching for readers," said Elad Kedar, CEO of Orasis Pharmaceuticals, in the release.1 "We built Qlosi around eye care professionals, not a direct-to-patient telehealth pathway. First Fill Free through BlinkRx and in-office dispensing give ECPs and patients more ways to access Qlosi, and a 49% refill rate, roughly double what is typically seen with dry eye prescription therapies at retail, tells us patients are seeing a meaningful result and choosing to stay on treatment."

Plan for implementation

According to the company, the 2 initiatives work to streamlining treatment delivery. First Fill Free is offered in conjunction with BlinkRx, an online platform that matches patients with cost-efficient and convenient medication delivery. The program provides a no-cost first-fill for patients through their eye care provider’s prescription, followed by standard pricing. Additionally, optometrists can now offer in-office dispensing in permitted states, so that patients can take home their prescription after their visit. Additionally, BlinkRx also offers at home-delivery, which combats the physical transportation barrier many patients face.1

Impact and future plans

As of July 21, 2026, Qlosi refill rates have reached 49%, which is approximately double the rates typically observed at competing retail pharmacies with dry eye treatments.

Qlosi was developed by Orasis in 20232 and officially launched in April 20253.1 The eye drop is a non-invasive treatment that works by improving visual acuity by pupil modulation, allowing for a “pinhole” effect which results in increased flexibility of the lens.

Barriers to care access

Presbyopia is an irreversible condition that naturally occurs during aging, leading to the gradual loss of ability to focus on objects nearby. The condition can make it difficult for patients to complete everyday tasks, such as using a cell phone and reading small-sized prints.1,2 It occurs due to a loss in lens flexibility, making it more difficult to focus on objects up close. However, with treatment, patients can experience improvement in their near vision, making living with the condition manageable.4

Access to presbyopia treatment can be limited by physical and financial barriers.4 Since presbyopia primarily impacts elderly patients, it may be difficult for them to travel to a pharmacy to pick up their prescription medication.4Additionally, many patients may be more likely to adhere to their prescription regimen if given their medication immediately following a visit with their optometrist.4

"The efficacy, tolerability, and safety I see in practice match the clinical trials, and my patients are relieved to finally have an option beyond readers. A no-cost first fill through BlinkRx removes a barrier to starting, and having Qlosi in the office lets me start the right patient during the visit, which is what I prefer," said David Rouse, OD, FAAO, Rouse Family Eye Care, SECO President, and Chair of the Florida Board of Optometry in the release.1
