Mentor, OH-Volk Optical recently introduced the Pictor Plus, a handheld ophthalmic camera that can provide high-resolution images of the retinal and anterior segment at off-site clinics or during field work.

According to Volk, the Pictor Plus weighs 1 pound and can fit with its accessories into a small briefcase. The device produces high-quality JPG images that can be uploaded via Wi-Fi to a computer, are compatible with most major imaging software programs, and adaptable to any patient database system.

The Pictor Plus includes 2 modules for retina and anterior segment imaging. The retinal module provides 40 degrees field of view of the fundus, with 9 fixation points that target different regions of the retina. Using non-mydriatic imaging method, the device can image pupils as small as 3 mm. The anterior module images the eye surface and has a series of cobalt blue LEDs for fluorescent imaging.
