Alden Optical recently acquired Fluoresoft, the only high molecular weight fluorescent solution available in the U.S., from Holles Laboratories, Inc.

Lancaster, NY-Alden Optical recently acquired Fluoresoft, the only high molecular weight fluorescent solution available in the U.S., from Holles Laboratories, Inc. The solution can be used to evaluate the cornea-to-lens fitting relationship, assess epithelial abnormalities due to contact lens wear, and assist during applanation tonometry. Fluoresoft’s high molecular weight compound prevents absorption by soft lens materials, preventing lens staining, according to the company.

In related news, Alden launched the Astera Multifocal Toric Practice Locator Tool. The map tool allows patients to locate practices offering the Astera Multifocal Toric lenses, which the company says is ideal for patients with astigmatism who don’t want to give up soft contact lenses as they become presyopic.
