BostonSight SCLERAL now offers a complete diameter range from 14.5mm to 19.0mm.

BostonSight today announced the expansion of its BostonSight SCLERAL® lens diameter options with the introduction of three new sizes: 14.5mm, 15.0mm, and 15.5mm. The new sizes are available together in a single FitKit® trial set and includes lenses for both right and left eyes, according to a news release.1

With this launch, BostonSight SCLERAL now offers a complete diameter range from 14.5mm to 19.0mm. BostonSight SCLERAL’s suite of design features remains consistent across all diameters, allowing practitioners to fit the full range using the same fitting philosophy and ordering process.1

“Expanding our diameter range allows doctors to truly fit patients of all ages and conditions,” said Karen Carrasquillo, OD, PhD, FAAO, FSLA, FBCLA, chief innovation and education officer at BostonSight, in the release. “The smaller diameters are ideal for pediatric patients, smaller corneas or apertures, and individuals who may have difficulty handling larger lenses.”

“This expanded diameter range gives practitioners ultimate flexibility when fitting BostonSight SCLERAL,” said Laurel Villers, chief business development officer at BostonSight, in the release. “Practitioners have been asking for our proven lens design, but in a smaller form. We’re excited to help them meet the needs of all patients they treat.”

Earlier this year, BostonSight also announced a 5-year strategic roadmap focused on advancing ocular surface treatment through clinical research, education, and specialty lens technology. The organization also named leadership roles to support initiatives aimed at expanding innovation and collaboration.2

Carrasquillo and Andrew Heim, chief technology officer, will lead the company’s innovation and technology strategy. They will be joined by Chirag Patel, OD, FAAO, director of innovative technologies, and Olga Tomashevskaya, director of engineering. The company stated it plans to collaborate with scientific, engineering, and clinical communities globally on new platforms, tools, and educational efforts.2

Heim joined BostonSight in 2025 as its first CTO and brings more than 15 years of experience in software and technical development, including leadership of technical teams.2

“Andrew brings deep expertise in technology as well as a strong understanding of BostonSight’s mission and goals,” said Sara Yost, MBA, president and CEO of BostonSight, in a news release. “He will be dedicated to ensuring that BostonSight stays at the forefront of technological innovation, so we not only meet, but exceed, customer expectations.”

According to the company, Heim’s responsibilities include aligning technology with business objectives, supporting clinical decision-making through artificial intelligence, and maintaining infrastructure to support global operations. He will also work with Carrasquillo on expanding access to BostonSight’s educational platforms.2

Patel, a PROSE provider, conducts research on corneo-scleral data to support development of data-driven scleral lens designs. In collaboration with Tomashevskaya, he is also working on approaches to enhance lens optical properties.2

“Our mission is driven by a simple yet powerful belief: everyone who needs a specialty lens—no matter where they are in the world—should have access to the best care and technology available,” said Yost in the release. “By investing in these initiatives and empowering innovative leaders, we are shaping the future of specialty lens technology while supporting practitioners with the knowledge and skills to deliver meaningful change for their patients.”
