Comanagement to take center stage at EnVision Summit 2026

Cecelia Koetting, the EnVision Summit chair for optometry, OD, FAAO, DipABO, gave a sneak peak into the CE and networking opportunities at the conference.

EnVision Summit 2026 will mark the third year of the conference’s dedicated optometry track, continuing its focus on interdisciplinary education and collaboration between optometrists and ophthalmologists. Set in Puerto Rico from February 13-16, the meeting will combine clinical programming with a family-friendly setting, featuring sessions across key areas including glaucoma, ocular surface disease, cataract comanagement, myopia, scleral lenses, and retina. Cecelia Koetting, OD, FAAO, DipABO, the EnVision Summit chair for optometry, sat down with the Eye Care Network to discuss the conference’s collaborative discussion through joint OD/MD panels and what attendees can expect this year.

What can attendees expect from EnVision Summit 2026?

Cecelia Koetting, OD, FAAO, DipABO: We are gearing up for the third year of the optometry track at Envision Summit. [The conference has] been around longer than that, but traditionally had been an ophthalmology conference and 3 years ago we introduced optometry, which I'm so excited to be chairing again this year. We've got lots to look forward to; if you've never been to EnVision, this is a phenomenal conference where it's really family friendly and inviting. Not only are we getting education, but it's in beautiful Puerto Rico, and there's some surf and sun, and your family can come and enjoy themselves while we're getting a little education, and then maybe get a little sun in there too. This year, I'm excited we have a great lineup for the optometry track. As far as education, we're going to be hitting the highlights of glaucoma with Paul Singh, MD. We've got Jade Coats, OD, FAAO, coming to talk to us about ocular surface, as well as helping talk about some co management with cataract. We've got Shalu Pal, OD, FAAO, FSLS, FBCLA, who's going to talk to us about myopia, and our lovely friend the scleral contact lens. So like I said, we're really hitting all of it. Not to forget retina, we've got Betty Zhang, OD, and we've got [Murtaza] Adam, MD, FASRS, coming back to talk to us with that as well. So if you haven't signed up, it's not too late. Come join us. If you have already signed up, we're excited to see you there.

You had mentioned the comanagement piece. With an OD/MD conference, that's going to be a huge talking point. So how do you think that in vision specifically, uniquely helps foster successful co management practices?

Koetting: So on the optometry track side, I really tried to make sure that we designed it so that all of our panels not only have an optometrist on there, but they also have an ophthalmologist, because they really want us to have a collaborative conversation. We all bring something different to the table that help all of us, as far as when we go back to clinic, and actually having applicable pearls that help in comanaging at home.

What can attendees expect from the venue out in Puerto Rico?

Koetting: So Puerto Rico, I think it kind of speaks for itself. But the venue, this is the first time I've been to this one, so I can't tell you specifically about this one, but I am excited. I keep hearing it's gorgeous. We're right on the beach. We're a little bit of in between San Juan and all the way to the east coast, where vehicles is. So we're kind of smack in the middle, but gorgeous, beautiful weather, especially this time of February, everybody on the East Coast is currently in the middle of ice and trying to thaw out, so we will be nice and toasty.
