Four laser cateract procedures were performed while a live 3D surgical view was streamed to visiting surgeons.

East Grinstead, West Sussex, UK-TrueVision 3D Surgical collaborated with Sheraz M. Daya, MD, FACP, FACS, FRCS(Ed), FRCOphth, for a live educational event featuring multiple advanced surgical technologies. During the daylong event, Dr. Daya performed four laser cataract procedures while the live 3D surgical view was streamed to the audience of visiting surgeons for an enhanced understanding of the angles and tissue depth involved in this newest form of cataract surgery.

Dr. Daya and colleagues from the UK and Europe provided the audience with clinical and technical updates on the latest methods used during laser cataract surgery, as well as an open discussion about the incorporation of new technology into clinical practice. Surgical techniques, patient communication, staff education, and medical economics in today’s economy were all discussed as part of the program designed to provide ophthalmic surgeons with a peer-to-peer forum for advanced cataract surgery.

“The feedback we have received from surgeons attending the event has been very positive and we look forward to future events that enable our colleagues to best appreciate the details of these new techniques in cataract surgery,” said Dr. Daya.
