The Contact Lens Institute (CLI) will launch a health and safety initiative this fall to promote healthy contact lens wear and care, in conjunction with US eyecare professionals. The announcement came as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) began its seventh annual Contact Lens Health Week on August 17, 2020.

“There are always opportunities to reinforce even better behaviors with contact lenses,” said Rick Weisbarth, OD, FAAO, Board Chairman of the Contact Lens Institue.

“The CLI program will provide eyecare practitioners with compelling tools to help facilitate health and safety conversations with current and new wearers.”

CLI encourages optometrists, ophthalmologists, opticians, technicians, and staff from offices that fit contact lenses to provide input to help shape the program and are encouraged to take a 12-question, 3-minute survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2NG2BXX.

The company plans to share additional details about the initiative and survey results next month.
