Eyedaptic launches EYE7 smart glasses, Eyedaptic Visual Assistant Family
Eyedaptic announced the launch of its latest smart glasses, the EYE7, along with the Eyedaptic Visual Assistant Family, a platform that includes the interactive visual assistant Ivy. A next-generation assistant, Eva, is also being offered through an Early Access Beta Program, according to a news release.1
“With the EYE7 Smart Glasses and its visual assistant Ivy, we’re delivering the market’s most advanced assistive vision platform available today,” said Jay Cormier, CEO and founder of Eyedaptic, in the release. “While Ivy delivers powerful, web-connected intelligence right out of the gate, our next generation visual assistant Eva is currently in Early Access Beta allowing users to experience and help shape the foundation of our visual assistant roadmap.”
According to the company, more than 400 million people worldwide are affected by retinal diseases that cause vision loss. Eyedaptic stated that the EYE7 and Visual Assistant Family together form an integrated wearable solution that combines real-time vision enhancement with artificial intelligence (AI)-based visual assistance in a single platform. The system is designed to allow remote software updates, enabling new features without requiring new hardware, the release stated.1
The EYE7 smart glasses are designed to provide real-time visual enhancement in a lightweight wearable format. Features include an ergonomic design for extended use, visual acuity and contrast enhancement for vision impairments, and multiple visual modes with user controls, according to the release.1
The Visual Assistant Family is intended to expand functionality through AI-driven support. Ivy, which is currently available, provides capabilities such as reading text and signage, identifying objects, and offering visual interpretation. It also incorporates web-based search and external data sources to provide additional context and responses. Eva, available through the Early Access Beta Program, focuses on real-time image processing, conversational interaction, and voice-driven controls, and is being used to test future features.1
“Developed in collaboration with users and clinicians, the EYE7 and the Visual Assistant Family reflect Eyedaptic’s commitment to continuous innovation, accessibility, and long-term independence for people with retina diseases by improving vision more than any currently available biological therapy,” said Mitul Mehta, MD, retina specialist and chief medical officer and cofounder of Eyedaptic, in the release.
The EYE7, Visual Assistant Ivy, and Visual Assistant Eva through the Early Access Beta Program are now available to eye care practices and Eyedaptic users. Existing users and practices can contact the company directly, and new practices can inquire through Eyedaptic or local sales representatives.1
