The FDA approved Abbot’s Tecnis Toric 1-Piece IOL for the treatment of cataract with pre-existing corneal astigmatism.

Abbott Park, IL-Abbott has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the company’s Toric 1-Piece intraocular lens (IOL) for the treatment of cataract with pre-existing corneal astigmatism. Abbot will launch the product in the U.S.

According to the company, the IOL remains very stable once inserted into the eye and meets the new standard for toric IOL rotational stability as approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Tecnis Toric 1-Piece also minimizes spherical aberration for better distance vision.
