HOYA Vision Care has recently launched its HOYA Polarized Lenses with Lumacore Mirrors, which utilize a patented technology that embeds a striking mirror and polarized filter in the lens.1 This allows for quality cleanability and durability, while sporting scratch and peeling resistance and a long-lasting inner mirror design, according to a news release.

The enhanced clarity in the lens also helps reduce glare and enhance visual comfort.1

“HOYA Polarized Lenses with Lumacore Mirrors represent a true breakthrough," said Samy Lauriette, vice president of strategic marketing, in the release. "Unlike conventional mirror coatings that are applied to the lens surface, Lumacore's mirror is precision-embedded within the lens itself, a proprietary innovation no other brand offers. This unique integration delivers exceptional durability, superior optical performance, and resistance to scratching, peeling, and rubbing off over time. It's not just another mirrored lens, it's a game changer that no one else is offering."

The lens features 2 color options, including a silver with a gray base and gold with a brown base. The Lumacore Mirrors lens is also available in HOYA-branded backside designs, including Array 2 progressives and MySV single vision lenses, in polycarbonate.1

The Array 2 applies the company’s free form backside surfacing technology to almost any semi-finished single vision lens in any material and is targeted for both practices and patients looking for flexibility and affordability in clear and sun lens options. The design features BKS and Binocular Harmonization technologies, with 4 corridor lengths available in variable or fixed lengths. For patients, this allows for fewer adaptation issues, among other benefits, according to HOYA.2

The MySV lenses provide more than just horizontal and vertical meridians by utilizing 360º Visual Comfort technology in oblique angles. This provides wide peripheral views compared with standard single vision lenses. The optimized base curve also compensates for larger frames without affecting the frame shape.3

The Lumacore Mirrors lens is available for direct order through HOYA Laboratories and major vision plans. In addition to training materials, sales aids, and patient education resources made available for eye care professionals, the company also offers a Visionary Alliance summer offer for Visionary Alliance members. From now until September 30, the promotion includes the new lens, HOYA Polarized, and HOYA Polarized HEV lens orders.1

The Lumacore Mirror lens joins a host of HOYA lenses on the company’s roster, including the Sensity Family and a variety of polarized lenses. The aforementioned HOYA Polarized HEV lens is cited by the company to reduce up to 99% of reflected glare. Contrast is also improved by filtering out up to 97% of blue light compared with standard polarized lenses. This provides better visibility, decreased light sensitivity, and quality impact resistance. HOYA’s general polarized lens collection also works to reduce blinding reflections and glare, while providing UV protection and ensuring safer driving in sunny conditions.4

The Sensity Family, made of Sensity, Sensity Fast, Sensity Dark, and Sensity Shine lenses, utilizes Stabilight technology to provide consistent performance in different climates and light conditions. The lens family also provides 100% protection against UV rays and blue light protection both indoors and out. Sensity 2 darkens to a dark category 3 sun tint and provides some of the best balance of fadeback speed and darkness, according to patients. Sensity Dark is best for the most light-sensitive patients, with a slight tint indoors and provides the darkest tint outdoors in the lens family. Sensity Shine is for those looking for a fashionable mirror lens, while Sensity Fast provides fast fadeback and a lighter category 2 sun tint back.4
